LETTERS TO
THE EDITOR
The Measure of Life
The South
Dakota abortion ban strikes at the heart of the abortion debate.
In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court stated that it didn't know when
human life began. That ignorance supposedly justified legalizing
abortion. The court's 1857 decision promoting slavery was also
founded on ignorance. The South Dakota law cites scientific and
medical evidence that life begins at conception.
Who knows what the court’s makeup will be when this or a
similar law gets there? But if the court recognizes the scientific
and medical evidence about life’s beginning it must reverse
Roe.
Planned Parenthood
and other abortion supporters will certainly challenge the law.
They consistently oppose providing women with information about
fetal pain, abortion risks and alternatives to abortion. Their
claims to be pro-woman and pro-choice are lies.
