Natural
Family Planning by Mary-Lynn Ott, RN goes beyond secular
family planning. It gives an insight to the alternatives available
to couples. The aim of the course is to educate you about these
alternatives. Thus, you can support Natural Family Planning couples
in their choice and provide others with the information and resources
necessary to make an informed choice about family planning.
Mary Lynn
Ott is a Registered Nurse who graduated from Fanshawe College
in London, Ontario, has broad nursing experience and is certified
to teach NFP.

OBJECTIVES
Upon
completion of this course, the nurse will be able to:
--Define
Natural Family Planning (NFP).
--Identify
and describe the biological signs in a woman’s body that
she can observe and chart as related to fertility;
--Understand
that NFP is fertility awareness, and discuss the different methods
of NFP and their effectiveness;
--Discuss
the side effects, safety, and other concerns surrounding hormonal
contraceptives;
--Be able to discuss the oldest form of NFP,
its standards, and its benefits;
--Discuss
how NFP can be used to achieve a pregnancy, the ethical implications
of in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and natural alternatives to
artificial reproductive technologies;
--Identify benefits of NFP.
METHOD
OF EVALUATION
Examination:
Pass = 70% or greater
GENERAL
INFORMATION
You
may complete the course as rapidly as you desire, but it must
be returned to us within one year. Please make a note on your
home study materials as to your receipt date for your future reference.
Read the material and complete the post test. Return the answer
sheet with your completed evaluation form. In case of loss in
the mail, keep a copy of your answer sheet until you receive your
certificate of completion.
Upon satisfactory completion, your certificate will be mailed
(generally within 2 weeks but please allow up to 6 weeks). If
your needs are more urgent please include a letter stating that
urgency.
The BRN requires that you retain the certificate for a period
of four (4) years after completion of the course.
